“Art is the inevitable consequence of growth.”

Robert Henri The Art Spirit

Are you stuck creatively? Have you hit a plateau technically you can’t quite get past?

Or, have you just always wanted to learn to draw and paint?

Would you love a good, simple starting point?  As well as some nice paintings you can proudly say you did yourself?

I have always enjoyed helping and teaching others to be better artists.  Some of the services I offer are:

_________________________________________________________________________

• Private Tutoring in Painting

-You will be a better painter after the very first class.  Guaranteed.

• Portfolio Development

-I had more than half of my college education, to an expensive art school, paid for through scholarships, which I was awarded due to portfolio alone.  I can help you do this, too.

• After-school/ Homeschool Art Education

-I understand the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards™ (TExES) for art and passed the Art EC-12 Classroom Certificate Test.

• Tutoring in Adobe Creative Suite

`I have tutored students in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign.  I also taught the first Photoshop painting classes at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria.

“Teaching is a passion of mine. I find it rewarding to pass on what was kindly shared with me to others.”

Some of this is my personality. It is also because I have been a student of truly wonderful and generous artists.  While I was lucky to have studied under an amazing group of artists, this was no accident. Whenever I have hit my own plateau, I have sought out a better teacher.  I earned a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design for my initial degree. After school, I moved to Los Angeles to work in illustration and animation, and to grow as a painter.  I learned a great deal about painting through my experience in professional development at Dreamworks Animation. I also studied in the Atelier method, a classical art method in which I teach, at Associates in Art, the American Animation Institute, and LA Figurative Academy.  I still continue to learn today, attending workshops and studying with other individual painters I respect, such as Jon Foster.

Now a professional painter and illustrator living in Austin, I offered my first Austin art classes at the Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria in 2007.  I have been teaching through the University of Texas since 2008, and as a private tutor since 2009. On the side, I also taught art at vocational camp for teens with autism, and I presently teach art in a program at the juvenile detention center.
